Bangladesh is transforming into inclusive-service provider: Palak

DHAKA, Oct 24, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said that Bangladesh is transforming into an inclusive service facilitator from just a service provider, as the government is gradually improving its efficiency to ensure citizens' access to all services.

"Bangladesh government is going through a profound shift, transitioning from being merely a service provider to a facilitator of inclusive services, improving the efficiency of government services and the economy, and ensuring citizens' participation in the public sector," he said.
The state minister made the remarks at the Tech Accelerator Programme-2023 organized by the 'Tony Blair Institute for Global Change' in Brussels, Belgium, said a press release here.

In the rapidly evolving realm of technology adoption and digital transformation, Bangladesh has emerged as a standout performer, Palak said, adding, Bangladesh is building its economy at a steady pace, focusing on the 'Foundational' service transformations to facilitate access to government services for everyone.

Following the successful implementation of the 'Digital Bangladesh Vision 2021', Bangladesh is now materializing the 'Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041' to reach upper middle-income country (UMIC) status by 2031 and high-income country (HIC) status by 2041, he said.

The state minister said the 'Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041' aimed at propelling the nation "towards a progressive and inclusive society with zero poverty and zero digital divide guided by ethical and secular values".

"We look forward to working with our global partners around the world to realize this vision and enable the country's path towards a developed knowledge-based economy," Palak added.

Earlier, the Tech Accelerator Programme started with a session titled 'A Leaders for the Future'.

At the session, the key discussion points were 'Reimagining 21st Century States' and 'Reimagining Economic Growth', which outlined the momentous vision of a state to achieve increased efficiency of government services, per capita income, achieving steady economic growth, gradual increase of the engagement of the GDP in the ICT and adopting the technological development towards industrial revolutions.

On the sideline of the event, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak paid a courtesy call on the Shadow Secretary of State for Science, Innovation, and Technology of the United Kingdom, Peter Kyle.

At the meeting, they discussed the mutual tech interests in the areas of trade, cashless economy, startup business exchange and business-to-business matchmaking, digital governance and other issues towards building a partnership economy together.
