DHAKA, Oct 5, 2023 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted poet Asad Chowdhury.

In a message of condolence, the minister said poet Asad was one of the main poets in the country. He was well known for his attractive pronunciation, planning and presenting all the popular programmes in television. 

Hasan recalled the contributions of poet Asad Chowdhury to the Bengali literature.

The information minister termed the death is an irreparable loss to the nation as his writings are an invaluable asset of Bengali literature. He will ever be remembered for his creation, said Dr Hasan.

The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Asad Chowdhury died in Toronto, Canada on Thursday at the age of 80.
