Manikganj, Sept, 30, 2023 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said the infection rate of dengue is decreasing in many parts of the country, including the capital city Dhaka.
"The infection and death rate will further decline if people become more aware of the mosquito-borne diseases and maintain health guidelines properly," the health minister said while talking to journalists at his residence located at Garpara under Sadar upazila here.
Research on the dengue vaccine is continuing all over the world, he said, adding, two kinds of vaccines have been invented while four distinct serotypes of the dengue virus (dengue-1, dengue-2, dengue-3, and dengue-4) exist, with numerous virus strains found worldwide, so vaccines are not working properly.
The minister said, "We have sufficient saline, which is very crucial for dengue patients....but people have to be more aware so that Aedes mosquitoes cannot be bred."
