3 held for fake COVID-19 test in city

DHAKA, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) – Members of Detective Brunch (DB), Gulshan Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested three fraudsters on charges of trying to embezzle Taka five crore in the name of COVID-19 test by showing fake approval from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The arrested are Abul Hasan Tushar (Chairman, Abdullah Alamin (Managing Director) and Mohammad Shahin Miah (Marketing Manager).

They were arrested from the Tejgaon area of the capital and Jhalokati district in a series of raids on Tuesday, said DMP Joint Commissioner of Police (Cyber and Special Crime and DB-North) Mohammad Harun Aur Rashid at a press conference at DMP's media center this afternoon.

The law enforces recovered computers, various fake appointment letters, ID cards, visiting cards, tax certificates used for fraudulent activities from their possession, he added.

The DB official further said that a fraudulent clique set up its office named 'TKS Healthcare Service' on the second floor of Al-Razi Complex at Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Sarani in the capital on July 11.

They did not get any permission from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to conduct COVID-19 tests, recruit people and set up camps, he continued.

The group tried to start cheating through 'TKS Healthcare Service', which has no legal existence, and embezzled money from the public in the name of COVID-19 test, he added.
