KHULNA, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) – Students, teachers and staff of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) today celebrated its 18th founding anniversary in limited scale maintaining health safety guidelines and other rules set by the government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion, the university authorities have celebrated the day through various daylong programmes.

The day’s programme began with hoisting of the national flag and the university flag. Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Professor Dr Kazi Sazzat Hossain opened the programmes by releasing balloons and pigeons in front of the administrative building of KUET.

To mark the day, “KUET Day Celebration Committee” organized a virtual discussion styled

“Achievement of KUET : Past, Present and Future” where VC Dr Kazi Sazzat Hossain addressed as the chief guest with its President and Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Md Abu Yousuf in the chair.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by Deans of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof Dr K M Azharul Hasan, Prof of Mechanical Engineering Faculty Dr Md Golam Kader and acting registrar Engineer Md Anisur Rahman Bhuiyan.

The chief guest said KUET is playing a pioneer role to develop the country’s Information Communication and Technology (ICT).

KUET not only produces meritorious graduates but also makes the country’s famous citizens who are now playing an important role for sustainable engineering, technology and ICT development both in home and abroad.

Besides, a special munajat was offered and a doa mehfil was held at the campus mosque maintaining health guidelines.

Later, the chief guest also planted a tree sapling on ‘Durbar Bangla’, a sculptor in memory of the Liberation War, premises in the campus followed by releasing fish fries into its ponds this noon.

KUET was established in Rail gate area under Khanjahan Ali Police Station in the city on this day in 2003.
