DHAKA, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) – Detective Branch (DB) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested three officials of a health facility at Gulshan area in the city on the charge of launching Covid test without approval.
The arrestees are Abdullah Al Amin, managing director, Abul Hasan Tushar, chairman and Md Shahin Miah, marketing manager of TKS Group, a sister concern of TKS Healthcare Service located at Al Raji complex.
The DB police also seized fake appointment letters, computers, ID cards, visiting cards and tax certificates used for fraudulence from their possession.
Addressing a press briefing at DMP’s media centre, joint commissioner of DMP (Cyber and Special Crime, DB North) Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid said the DB team arrested them from Tejgaon and Jhalokathi in a series of raids yesterday.
“The fraud gang formed a fake organisation and applied to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry mentioning that they have 5,126 front-line fighters to conduct free Covid-19 tests in eight divisions, 64 districts, 492 upazilas and 4,562 unions in the country,” he said.
Harun said as there was no legal existence of the organization, they will not get any permission from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for Covid Test.
“They set up camps, recruited manpower for collecting Covid samples by preparing fake permission of the Health Ministry with fake seal of deputy secretary Zakia Sultana of the ministry,” he said.
The joint commissioner said that through these fake permits, the arrested persons embezzled money by appointing various persons as Upazila Co-ordinators and Field Officers of Dhaka and Jhalokati districts.
Despite having no credentials or experience in healthcare service, the gang involved in malpractice, he added.
A case was filed with Shahbagh police station in this regard.
