
RANGPUR, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) - The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients has
crossed the 90 percent mark in Rangpur division where the positivity and
causality rates are continuing to decline during the last three weeks.
Health officials said 451 more Covid-19 patients healed on Tuesday raising
the total number of recovered patients to 47,953 raising the average healing
rate to 90.11 percent in the division.
The 47,953 recovered patients include 9,805 of Rangpur, 3,075 Panchagarh,
4,060 of Nilphamari, 2,426 of Lalmonirhat, 4,212 of Kurigram, 6,277 of
Thakurgaon, 13,721 of Dinajpur and 4,266 of Gaibandha districts in the
division.
Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 positive cases reached 53,216 with the
diagnosis of 112 fresh cases on Tuesday in the division.
"The 112 new Covid-19 cases were reported after testing 927 samples at the
positivity rate of 12.08 percent on Tuesday," Focal Person of the Covid-19
and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 16.05 percent on Monday, 11.66
percent on Sunday, 12.60 percent on Saturday, 18.44 percent on Friday, 18.58
percent on Thursday and 17.62 percent on Wednesday last in the division.
The district-wise break up of total 53,216 patients stands at 12,130 in
Rangpur, 3,496 in Panchagarh, 4,318 in Nilphamari, 2,669 in Lalmonirhat,
4,524 in Kurigram, 7,206 in Thakurgaon, 14,202 in Dinajpur and 4,671 in
Gaibandha of the division.
"Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 2,56,756
collected samples were tested till Tuesday, and of them, 53,216 were found
Covid-19 positive with an average positivity rate of 20.73 percent in the
division," Dr Siddiqui added.
Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam
said the number of casualties reached 1,195 as two new deaths were reported
from Rangpur in the division during the last 24 hours ending at 8 am today.
The district-wise break up of the 1,195 fatalities stands at 285 in
Rangpur, 75 in Panchagarh, 85 in Nilphamari, 63 in Lalmonirhat, 66 in
Kurigram, 241 in Thakurgaon, 319 in Dinajpur and 61 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.
"The average casualty rate currently stands at 2.25 percent in the
division," Dr Islam said.
Among the 53,216 patients, 171 are undergoing treatments at isolation
units, including 20 critical patients at ICU beds and 10 at High Dependency
Unit beds, after recovery of 47,953 patients and 1,195 deaths while 3,897 are
remaining now in home isolation.
"Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-19
vaccine rose to 19,10,737, and among them, 7,76,579 got the second dose of
the jab till Tuesday in the division," Dr Islam added.
Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu
expressed satisfaction over the improving Covid-19 situation and suggested
people to remain careful.
"Everyone should abide by the health directives, hygiene rules, wear masks
and maintain physical distance to remain safe and prevent community
transmission of the Covid-19 virus in the division," he added.
