RAJSHAHI, Sept 1, 2021 (BSS) - Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital
(RMCH) has counted ten more deaths at its Covid-19 unit during the last 24
hours till 6am today.

However, the previous day's fatality figure was five, while Friday's death
cases from the lethal virus was just four, the lowest-ever since the second
wave of coronavirus hit the country around four months back.

Earlier, the number of casualties was 340 in August, 566 in July and 405
in June, health officials said.

RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani told newsmen that among
the fresh ten deaths, four were male and six female.

Three of the deceased were the residents of Rajshahi, four from
Chapainawabganj, two from Natore and one from Naogaon districts, he said.

"Among the deaths, four tested positive for Covid-19, four had its
symptoms and two others had post-Covid-19 complexity," he said.

Nineteen more patients were admitted to the designated Covid-19 wards of
the hospital in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of admitted
patients to 145, including 74 tested positive for Covid-19.

Twenty other patients returned home from the Covid-19 unit after being
cured during the time.

Yazdani said the infection rate has increased by 1.98 percent in Rajshahi
compared to the previous day.

A total of 45 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 positive after testing
335 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Tuesday, showing 13.43 percent
positivity rate against 11.45 percent on Monday.

Yazdani said the number of admitted patients has declined during the last
couple of weeks. So, the number of designated wards and beds in the hospital
was reduced, he added.
