
CHATTOGRAM, Aug 29, 2021 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud today said that the introduction of Central Oxygen Service (COS) at Rangunia Upazila Health Complex of the district will alleviate the sufferings of the people of Rangunia.
“There is no need to go to the city and rush to the hospital. This service is available in only a few upazilas hospitals of Bangladesh,” he said.
He said that the rank of Bangladesh is 92nd in the world in terms of size. “Despite being small in size, Bangladesh ranks third in the world in rice production, fourth in fish production, fourth or fifth in vegetable production and seventh in potato production. All these have been possible due to dynamic steps taken by Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he said.
He was virtually speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of Central Oxygen System at Rangunia Upazila Health Complex in Chattogram this morning.
Sirajul Karim, director of Parkview Hospital in Chattogram, assisted in setting up the Central Oxygen Service at the initiative of NNK Foundation, the family charity organization of the Information Minister.
Meanwhile, the minister also inaugurated the release and distribution of fish fry in the institutional reservoirs of Rangunia on the occasion of National Fisheries Week and distribution of loans among the rural entrepreneurs affected in Corona pandemic as Covid-19 incentive announced by the Prime Minister.
Rangunia Upazila Chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, UNO Iftekhar Yunus, Mayor Shahjahan Sikder, NNK Foundation Director Khaled Mahmud, former vice chancellor Dr Provad Barua, Upazila Vice Chairman Shafiqul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rajib Chowdhury, Upazila Health Officer Dev Prasad Chakraborty and Awami League leaders Abul Kashem Chishti, Idris Azgar, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Engineer Shamsul Alam Talukder and Director of Parkview Hospital Sirajul Karim, among others, addressed the function.
Dr. Hassan Mahmud said that NNK Foundation has been giving service to the people of Rangunia since outbreak of the coronavirus. A central oxygen plant with 10 oxygen cylinders of 9.8 cubic liters oxyen has been set up at Rangunia Health Complex. As a result, any corona patient coming to the isolation center of Rangunia Health Complex now needs not to rush to the city for Central Oxygen service.
The Minister of Information and Broadcasting said that various NGOs distribute loans. But, many are harassed by the NGO officials. That is why Joonetri Sheikh Hasina is giving loans to the rural people on easy terms through BRDB.
