KUSHTIA, Aug 28, 2021 (BSS) - Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif today said BNP is not nationally, but it is also internationally recognised as a terrorist party.

“A federal court of Canada has identified the BNP as a party of terrorists. The leader of the BNP Tarique Rahman is a terrorist and a murderer. He is accused in many cases,” he said while talking to reporters after inspecting Sheikh Russell Bridge Dam, damaged by erosion of Gorai River this afternoon.
 
He said, “The conspiracy of the August 21 grenade attack took place in Hawa Bhaban led by Tarique Rahman…..the then state minister for home affairs Lutfuzzaman Babar, deputy education minister Abdus Salam Pintu, Khaleda Zia's adviser Harris Chowdhury and some militant leaders planned the grenade attack.”

Terming the August 21 gruesome grenade attack as one of the heinous crimes, Hanif said the then prime minister and BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia is also responsible for the grenade attack.

"The then Prime Minister Begum Zia had failed to provide security to the country's main opposition leader and she (Khaleda Zia) can't avoid the responsibility. It happened with her knowledge," he added.

The Water Development Board has already taken all steps to protect the dam, he added.

Kushtia-1 MP AKM Sarwar Jahan Badsha, Barrister Selim Altaf George, MP from Kushtia-4 and local Water Development Board officials, among others, political leaders were present.
