DHAKA, July 31, 2023 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandkar Golam Faruq today said there is no alternative to plantation protecting environment and keeping plant habitable.

"If you see in the Dhaka city buildings and buildings, so no alternative to plant trees to make the world livable," he said this while inaugurating the tree plantation programme at Basila west zone regional police lines.

Additional Commissioners AKM Hafiz Akhtar, Moha Ashrafuzzaman, Md Munibur Rahman and CTTC Chief Md Asaduzzaman and senior police officers planted one fruit tree sapling each.

The DMP Commissioner inaugurated the Tree Plantation Programme-2023 in line with the pledge of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina 'lets plant trees and take care, and build a nation with healthy generation'.

He said the programme will be implemented in each police lines and office compound of DMP in phases.

"To save our planet we have to saplings side by side protect rivers and canals. We have to plant trees not only the police lines but also empty space," Faruq said.

The commissioner said July is the month of draught and Europe, America along with the entire world is facing wildfire as the main reason is environment disaster such as deforestation and dried up of rivers-canals.
