PM mourns death of veteran journalist Shahjahan Miah

DHAKA, July 27, 2023 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the demise of veteran journalist, valiant freedom fighter and former Secretary General of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) M Shahjahan Miah.

In a condolence message, the prime minister said, "M Shahjahan was a professional journalist. He contributed to changing the society by publishing reports and information in the mass media."

The head of the government also said being a leader of the journalists; he (Shahjahan Miah) had played a significant role in the welfare of the journalists alongside enhancing their professional excellence.

"The country's mass media has lost a valiant journalist with his demise," she said.

The premier also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Shahjahan Mia, also former Chief News Editor of National News Agency- Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), died of old-age complications at his city's Rampura residence last night. He was 82.
