Hun Sen votes as polls open in one-sided Cambodia election: AFP

PHNOM PENH, July 23, 2023 (BSS/AFP) - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen voted Sunday as polls opened, AFP journalists said, in an election he is all but certain to win as he looks to hand the reins to his son.

The 70-year-old former Khmer Rouge cadre voted in the capital Phnom Penh shortly after the election began, but he faces no real contest in the ballot, with opposition parties banned, challenger candidates forced to flee and freedom of expression stifled.
