DHAKA, July 16, 2023 (BSS) - The railway communication resumed today after five-hour blockade imposed by agitated railway workers in the city demanding to make their job permanent.
"The nationwide railway communication resumed at around 3pm as the agitated workers agreed to withdraw their blockade which came into effect at around 10am at Tejgaon rail gate", said Additional Director General of Railway (Operation) Sarder Sahadat Ali.
They blocked the tracks in Karwan Bazar causing suspension of Dhaka's rail communication with the rest of the country.
They withdrew the blockade at around 2:30pm, he added.
At least 15 trains were stranded at various stations due to the blockade.
