DHAKA, July 12, 2023 (BSS) - A court here today set July 31for holding the  hearing on charge framing in a case lodged against BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for observing her fake birthday on August 15, which is also the National Mourning Day.

Today was fixed for holding hearing on the matter but the defence counsel pleaded to allow them time in the case. Accepting the defence plea, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Asaduzzaman Nur adjourned the hearing till 
July 31.

On August 30 in 2016, Journalist Gazi Zahirul Islam filed the case against the BNP chief for celebrating her fake birthday on August 15, the National Mourning Day.

According to the case documents and SSC mark sheet, the birthday of BNP chief is September 5, 1946. During her tenure as Prime Minister, a national daily published an article on her life writing August 19, 1945 as Khaleda's birthday.

In her marriage certificate, Khaleda Zia's birthday was given as August 4, 
1944, while it is on August 5, 1946 as per her passport information. But, 
August 15 has not been mentioned anywhere as her birthday.
