AF Rahman hall wins Rokeya Debate Fest 

DHAKA, July 9, 2023 (BSS) - A F Rahman Hall debating club of Dhaka University become champion defeating Bijoy 71 hall in the final round of the two-day 'Rokeya Debate Festival' organized by the university's Ruqayyah Hall Debate Club.

DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman was present as the Chief Guest in the prize giving ceremony and handed over the champion trophy to the winning team at a function at the auditorium of university's Ruqayyah hall. 
 
Debate teams from around 32 universities of the country took part in the competition, said a press release.

Hall Provost Prof Dr Zeenat Huda, Dhaka University Education and Research Institute Professor M Ahiduzzaman, Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Dr Rumana Islam, Hall Debating Club Moderator Samshad Nawrin and Dhaka University Debating Society President Md Mahbubur Rahman Masum and General Secretary Fuad Hossen were present as special guests on the occasion, chaired by Chaired by Rokeya Hall Debate Club President Arpita Goldar. 

Hall Debating Club General Secretary Arju Afrin Cathy conducted the ceremony.

While addressing, Md Akhtaruzzaman said the effective participation of women in all walks of life, including in rural areas, has increased a lot. The inclusive participation of women continues to play an important role in the overall development of the country, he added.
 
Referring to Begum Rokeya as a pioneer and pioneer of the progress of women's society, the vice-chancellor said following her ideals, students should develop themselves as rational people and good citizens and work for the development of the country.
