France keen to help launching 'Bangabandhu Satellite-2' in space

DHAKA, June 21, 2023 (BSS) - France is keen to provide assistance in launching Bangladesh's second satellite 'Bangabandhu Satellite-2' in space.

French Ambassador to Bangladesh, Marie Masdupuy expressed her country's interest while paying a courtesy call on Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar at his office at the secretariat here today, a press release said. 

During the meeting, they exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest, especially the expansion and advancement of telecommunication and digital technology in building Smart Bangladesh, the release added.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said that the successful launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 is one of the achievements of the present government. 

Through this, Bangladesh became the 57th member of satellite-owning countries' exclusive club, he added.

Highlighting the government's progress in various sectors including the telecommunication sector, the minister said that Bangladesh is a very lucrative place for investment.

He hoped that France would come forward to invest in the telecommunication sector taking the advantage of the government's investment-friendly policy.

Jabbar also praised the role of France in the entry of Bangladesh into the satellite era by launching Bangabandhu Satellite-1.

French ambassador Marie Masdupuy expressed her desire to take the historic relationship between Bangladesh and France to a unique height in the coming days.
 
He lauded Bangladesh's continued progress, especially in the digital technology sector.
