PIROJPUR, June 17, 2023 (BSS) - A total of 1,28,060 children of under-five age group will be fed Vitamin A Plus capsules in seven upazilas, including four municipalities of the district, tomorrow (on June 18) as part of the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2023.

Civil surgeon of the district Dr. Md. Hasnat Yusuf Jackie disclosed this information to the journalists in a press briefing this afternoon.

The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning with UNICEF assistance.

Dr Md. Hasnat Yusuf Jackie said, "We have completed all preparations to make the national vitamin "A" plus campaign a success."

"Immunization of the under-five babies with Vitamin A Plus capsules is crucial for strengthening their immune system and disease resistance capacity for healthier growth," he said.

He also said 3,824 health workers and volunteers, 250 health assistants will provide Vitamin A Plus capsules at 1,368 centres in seven upazilas, including four municipalities of the district tomorrow from 8 am to 4 pm.

Civil Surgeon office sources said, under the programme, the health department has taken adequate measures to provide vitamin-A capsule (blue colour) to 14,652 babies aged six months to 11 months and vitamin-A capsule (red colour) to 1,13,308 children of 12 months to 59 months age group.
