
DHAKA, June 14, 2023 (BSS) -The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Home Affairs was informed today that the formation of Armed Police Battalion for the hill districts is currently underway.
The parliamentary watchdog was informed this at its 29th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here with committee chairman Benjir Ahmed in the chair, said a press release.
The committee discussed the approval and confirmation of the minutes of its 28th meeting and the progress and implementation of the decisions taken in that meeting.
According to the progress report, dope test of the members of Bangladesh Police is going on. Similar test is also underway at the Central Drug Addiction Treatment Center in Dhaka under the jurisdiction of the Department of Narcotics Control.
The report also mentioned that the formation of Armed Police Battalion for the hill districts is currently underway.
In the meeting, it was also said that necessary measures have been taken to stop various criminal activities, including online gambling and anti-national propaganda on social media, including Facebook.
Committee members Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Md Habibar Rahman, Kujendra Lal Tripura, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Nur Mohammad, Sultan Muhammed Mansur Ahmed and Dr Shamil Uddin Ahmed Shimul attended the meeting, among others, the release added.
