Indian national held with 1.8 kg cocaine at HSIA

DHAKA, June 10, 2023 (BSS) - The customs officials today arrested an Indian national with 1.8 kg of cocaine, worth around Taka 12 crore, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in the city.

 
The detainee, Salome Lalramdhari, 47, a resident of Mizoram state in India, was arrested around 2am, said Najma Zabin, deputy director of Customs Intelligence Investigation Directorate.

Since a flight of Qatar Airways (QR-638) landed at the airport from Doha around 1:18 am, she said, acting on a tip-off, a team of customs intelligence officials stopped her while she was crossing the immigration point after detecting drugs in her luggage.

Later, they seized the cocaine from her luggage.

The Customs Intelligence officials said that a case has been filed against Salome, bearing the passport no V-1115875, with Airport Police Station under Narcotics Control Act, Customs Act, Money Laundering Prevention Act and Special Power Act.

She has already been handed over to the Airport Police Station, the officials added.
