Implementation and Monitoring Committee Convener Abul Hasnat Abdullah today
said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's main policy is the development of
villages and towns.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's main policy is the development of villages
and towns. The current democratic government has been able to uphold
democratic rights through the elected representatives of the local government
bodies of the country by holding this philosophy," he said.

He said these while exchanging views with with the chairmen and members of
various union parishads at Seral of Agailjhara upazila of Barishal district.

Local leaders of district and upazila units of Awami League were present on
the occasion.

Abul Hasnat Abdullah said that the current government is implementing various
action plans to ensure a planned, pro-people and livable sustainable rural
social system across the country.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina-led government believes in balanced
development policy.

"In the light of this policy, integrated development programs are being
implemented across the country," he added.

He advised the elected public representatives to ensure their welfare
oriented services by adopting various income-generating programs at the local
level.

He further said that for the successful implementation of the current
government's 'Smart Bangladesh' formation process and the achievement of the
desired goals, the public representatives elected at the local level should
act as a bridge for the government.

He urged the elected public representatives to play a coordinated role in the
overall welfare of the people at all levels.

He said that in every upazila of Barishal district, a record amount of
development work is going on successfully in education, health, communication
and infrastructure sectors.

He called upon the public representatives to play a more coordinated and
responsible role to deliver the benefits of these programs to the doorsteps
of the people of Barishal.
He assured of providing necessary support for the overall development of the
local government bodies of Barishal.
