Rain likely in parts of country

DHAKA, June 8, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) today predicted rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9am today.

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Barishal divisions; at a few places over Dhaka and Khulna divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Chattogram and Barishal divisions," said a Met office bulletin issued this morning.

"Severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Jashore and Chuadanga. Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions and the rest parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi & Khulna divisions and the district of Sylhet and it may abate from some places," it added.

Day temperature may fall by (1-3)degree Celsius and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 41.5 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, while today's minimum temperature 23.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Kutubdia.

The highest rainfall was recorded 74mm at Chattogram in the last 24 hours till 6am today.

The sun sets at 6.45pm today and rises at 5.10am tomorrow in the capital.
