DHAKA, May 16, 2023 (BSS) - The body of legendary film actor and valiant 
Freedom Fighter Akbar Hossain Pathan, popularly known as Farooque, arrived in 
the capital from Singapore this morning, a day after his demise.

A special flight of US-Bangla carrying the body of Farooque, also a 
parliament member of Dhaka-17 constituency, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal 
International Airport in the city at 7:40 am, APBN Additional Superintendent 
of Police SM Mizanur Rahman told BSS.

Farooque, also a film producer and businessman, breathed his last around 10am 
on Monday while undergoing treatment at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital. 
He had been suffering from different ailments and undergoing treatment at the 
hospital for the last two years.

His body was taken to the premises of his longtime workplace, Bangladesh Film 
Development Corporation (BFDC), after being kept at the Central Shaheed Minar 
for a few hours for all to pay their last respects to the beloved actor. 

The actor's first namaz-e-janaza was held at the BFDC premises after Zuhr 
prayers.

Afterwards, the body was taken to Gulshan's Azad Masjid under his 
constituency where the second namaz-e-janaza was held after Asr prayers. 
People of the area paid their last respects to the legendary film actor 
there. 

Finally, Farooq's body will be taken to Gazipur's Kaliganj where he will be 
buried at his family graveyard near Pathan House following the third namaz-e-
janaza at 7 pm.
