GAZIPUR, May 8, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, today said revenge of Ahsan Ullah Master killing should be taken by casting votes for 'Boat' in all the upcoming elections, including the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls.
"An anti-liberation force is out to spoil the upcoming parliament election. We should take the revenge of Ahsan Ullah Master killing by voting for 'Boat' in all the upcoming elections," he said.
The veteran AL leader said this at a discussion on Noagaon MA Mazid Miah High School premises at Tongi here, marking the 19th death anniversary of Independence Award winning veteran freedom fighter, lawmaker and eminent labour leader Ahsan Ullah Master.
Noting that the GCC elections among the five city corporation elections to be held before parliament polls is very important, Maya said so the victory of the 'Boat' in Gazipur must be ensured at any cost.
"Everyone should work together for ensuring the victory of ‘Boat’ in the GCC polls," he added.
Tongi Thana AL President valiant Freedom Fighter Fazlul Haque presided over the discussion while State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Zahid Ahsan Russel, MP, Begum Shamsun Nahar Bhuiyan, MP, former central Sramik League president Md Abdul Matin Master, GCC former acting mayor Asadur Rahman Kiran, Gazipur City AL former joint general secretary Matiur Rahman Mati, Mohila AL central leader Nilima Akter Lily, Gazipur City Chhatra League President Mashiur Rahman Sarker Babu and Gazipur City Mohila AL General Secretary Fahima Akter Husna and Vice-President Shirin Shaheed spoke, among others.
Speaking at the discussion, Zahid Ahsan Russel demanded the execution of the verdict of the case lodged for killing his father.
On May 7, 2004, during the then BNP-Jamaat regime, a group of terrorists gunned Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master down at a public rally on the Noagaon MA Majid Mia High School ground.
Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master was elected Member of Parliament from Gazipur-2 constituency (Gazipur Sadar-Tongi) twice in 1996 and 2001, Chairman of Gazipur Sadar Upazila Parishad in 1990 and Chairman of Pubail Union Parishad twice in 1983 and 1988.
He was a member of the National Committee of the Awami League.
He was the executive president and general secretary of the Jatiya Sramik League.
Ahsan Ullah Master was also the chairman of Bangladesh Institute of Labor Studies (BILS).
