DHAKA, April 25, 2023 (BSS) - Minister of State for Culture Affairs KM Khalid has said that the climate change is a major threat to cultural heritage worldwide.
“Now the climate change is one of the big issues for the world …The effects of climate change are leading to degradation of cultural heritage in Bangladesh as well as Asian countries,” he said.
The state minister said these in his speech as a representative of the observer country at the second session of the founding assembly of the "Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia" (ACHA) in Xian City of Shaanxi Province in China, a press release said here today.
“This founding gathering of the Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia (ACHA) or Asian Alliance for Cultural Heritage is really a timely initiative to exchange cultural heritage and experiences among the Asian countries,” he said.
“If we can represent the cultural diversity of the region through the exchange of our acquired experience and knowledge, then we will definitely be able to reach a common goal together and that is to preserve our cultural history and heritage”, he added.
The session was presided over by Li Liusan, Director of 'China Academy of Cultural Heritage' and Executive Secretary General of the ACHA. The key note was presented by Li Qun, China's Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism and Administrator of China's 'National Cultural Heritage Administration'.
