Independence Day celebrated at BD New Delhi mission 

 NEW DELHI, March 26, 2023 (BSS) - The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi today celebrated the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh with due solemnity and fervor. 

The day's programmes began with hoisting of national flag by Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Md. Mustafizur Rahman and placing floral wreaths at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the chancery premises.
 
In the evening, a discussion programme was organized at the High Commission premises as part of the celebration, according to a press release issued by Bangladesh High Commission here this evening. 

The messages issued by the President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister Dr. A K Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam were read out by the mission officials. A documentary on the Liberation War of Bangladesh was screened marking the day.
 
Taking part in the discussion, the Bangladesh envoy paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, martyrs of the Liberation War and the women who were dishonored in the War.

He urged all to help build a 'smart Bangladesh' under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina being imbued with the spirit of the country's War of Liberation and the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. 
 
Later, a special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu, his family members, who were brutally killed on the fateful night of August 15, 1975 and all the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the cause of independent Bangladesh.

As 26 March falls on a weekend this year, a special reception will be organized on March 28, 2023 at the High Commission premises marking the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh, the release added.
