BRUR, GIZ, KiK sign tripartite MoU

RANGPUR, March 22, 2023 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and German retailer KiK here today.

The MoU was signed at a ceremony held at the syndicate room of the university to cooperate in improving the quality of higher education and creating opportunities of higher education and research for the poor and unprivileged students, a press release said.

BRUR Registrar Engineer Mohammad Alamgir Chowdhury, GIZ Project Manager Dr. Christian Bochmann and Kick representative Manjur Hossain Kashfin signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations.

Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid, its Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina, Deans of different Faculties, Directors, teachers, representatives of GIZ and KiK were present.

Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid said the MoU will play an important role in achieving higher education for the students belonging to poor families and disadvantaged communities.
 
"I sincerely thank the two German organizations GIZ and KiK for signing the MoU aiming at ensuring quality higher education and creating educational opportunities for dropout and unprivileged students," he said.

Project Manager Dr. Christian Bachmann said GIZ is working to eliminate social inequality in addition to ensuring quality higher education in Bangladesh.

"Through our collaborative activities, talented students from backward communities will become more efficient in research and higher education and contribute to attaining the sustainable development of Bangladesh in the future," he said.

After the MoU signing ceremony, members of GIZ and KiK visited the central library, academic building classrooms and laboratories of Begum Rokeya University, the release added.
