Classical music festival enchants audience at BRUR

    RANGPUR, March 16, 2023 (BSS) - Excellent performance of musicians in the fourth classical musical festival-2023 exceedingly entertained a huge audience on Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) campus here last night.  

    The 'Sangskriti Bikash Kendra (SBK)' of Begum Rokeya University organised the festival for the fourth time in the university aiming at flourishing cultural activities through nurturing the rich Bengali culture and heritage.  

    Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid inaugurated the event as the chief guest and warmly welcomed distinguished guests, participating artists and huge audience.

    Coordinator of the SBK and Associate Professor of the Department of Geography and Environmental Science of the university Md. Atiur Rahman presided over the function.

    Pro Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahamed addressed the occasion as special guests.  

    The audience enjoyed heart-throbbing performances of participating artists with vocal songs, sitar, violin, dance, flute, tabla and ensemble music in a pin drop silence in the classical music festival.

    Addressing the occasion, the speakers thanked the SBK authority of Begum Rokeya University for arranging the luminous classical music festival for the fourth time in the city.

    The Vice-chancellor said there is no alternative to cultural practices for building a non-communal Bangladesh in line with the spirit of the Great War of Liberation.

    "It is possible to create enlightened people only through healthy cultural practices. One of the ways to resist all kinds of evil forces is healthy cultural practices," he said.

    He said, "To build a prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh as dreamed by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, it is necessary to spread and develop such cultural practices."
