DHAKA, Aug 15, 2021 (BSS) – Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said that Ziaur Rahman was the main conspirator behind the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“The disgraceful killing on August 15, 1975 was masterminded by BNP founder Ziaur Rahman,” he said.

The food minister made these comments after joining a discussion marking the 46th death anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the National Mourning Day at Khadhya Bhaban here.

“The fugitive convicted killers of Bangabandhu would be brought back to the soil of the country soon under the purview of law,” he said.  

Chaired by Director General of the Department of Food Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the discussion also was addressed, among others, by Food Secretary Dr Nazmunara Khanum, Director General of Food Policy and Monitoring Unit (FPMU) M Shahiduzzaman Faruqui, Additional Secretary Khaja Abdul Hannan, Bangladesh Food Safety Authority member Rezaul Karim, and Additional Director General of the Department of Food Abdullah Al Mamun.

To mark the day, one-minute silence was observed recalling the victims, including Bangabandhu who had been assassinated mercilessly by the miscreants at the outset of the programme.

Earlier, the food minister paid tribute by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the ground floor of the Khadhya Bhaban.
