
DHAKA, March 12, 2023 (BSS) - The government has introduced a five-year insurance for expatriate workers in a bid to provide financial security to them.
The Wage Earners' Welfare Board signed an agreement with Jiban Bima Corporation (JBC) at 'Bijoy 71' auditorium at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban here today, a press release said.
Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed attended the contract signing ceremony as the chief guest while Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Affairs Ministry Benzir Ahmed was present as the special guest, the release added.
Besides, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ahmed Munirus Saleheen and Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Chairman Mohammad Zainul Bari were also present, among others, on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government has introduced compulsory insurance to benefit expatriate workers economically.
The insurance benefit has been increased from Taka two lakh to Taka ten lakh while its tenure has been expanded from two years to five years, he added.
The benefits of this insurance will be increased day by day, he added.
