DHAKA, Aug 15, 2021 (BSS)-State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hasan has said that Ziaur Rahman was the mastermind behind the assassination of Bangabandhu.

"Ziaur Rahman had deep involvement in the plot to assassinate Bangabandhu. Ziaur Rahman is the mastermind of Bangabandhu's murder. Without his support, it would not have been possible for Khandaker Moshtak Ahmed to carry out this barbaric assassination," he said.

He said this while distributing cheques, issued by the Prime Minister, among the journalists of Jamalpur in the conference room of the deputy commissioner (DC) yesterday evening.

The state minister said, "The Prime Minister has given a grant of Taka 10 crore for journalists affected due to coronavirus. There is no example of government providing such financial assistance to journalists."

He urged the journalists to be vocal against those involved in conspiracies against the country, including the assassination of Bangabandhu.

 Deputy Commissioner (DC) Morsheda Zaman presided over the function.

Former MP Engineer Mozaffar Hossain, Superintendent of Police Nasir Uddin Ahmed, District Awami League President Advocate Muhammad Baki Billah, Municipality Mayor Chanowar Hossain Chanu and Jamalpur Press Club President Hafiz Raihan Sada also spoke on the occasion.

A total amount of Taka 9.20 lakh was distributed among 52 journalists in the function.
