March 7 speech is an inspiration for freedom-loving people: DU VC

DHAKA, March 7, 2023 (BSS) -Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzaman today said historic March 7 speech is relevant and contemporary to all the nations and it will remain as an inspiration for all the neglected, deprived and freedom seeking people across the world.

"Historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is relevant to all the nations and countries which will continue to inspire all the neglected, deprived and freedom seeking people across the world the way it inspired the Bengali nation in 1971," said Akhtaruzzaman.

The VC was addressing a discussion titled 'The importance and significance of historic March 7' at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on the DU campus marking the historic March 7 speech day.

Akhtaruzzaman said Bangabandhu's historic March 7 speech managed to make the whole nation united and prepare them for the nation's most anticipated freedom as it contains all the instructions and guidelines for all the components, needed for a collective effort for a nation's fight for independence.

With a single speech, the great man managed to bring the entire nation under one umbrella and become a de facto sovereign, winning everyone's heart regardless of their caste, creed, sex and religions.

It was possible because each individual and community's concern and interest no matter what class and community they belong to, was known to Bangabandhu very well and thus, the great man managed to address the concern of each class and community equally along with giving directives for the nation's freedom, Akhtaruzzaman added.

The significance of the speech didn't end up in achieving victory in the Liberation War rather the speech has been inspiring all the freedom-loving and democratic people around the world, the VC said, adding: "The relevance and significance of the speech will be similarly effective in the days to come."

The VC called upon everyone to uphold, cultivate and spread democratic, humanitarian and democratic values comprehending the importance and significance of the historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and deploy themselves to build the country as dreamt by the great leader.

"Youths have many things to know, learn and understand from Bangabandhu's March-7 speech as they have to play vital role in building the country as a developed one by 2041," he added.

Terming the epoch-making March 7 speech of Bangabandhu as the clear declaration of independence, he said the speech contained clear direction for the Bangalee nation to launch the ultimate struggle for achieving national freedom.

"The historic 7 March speech had played a vital role to unite the Bangalee people and establish an independent state," Akhtaruzaman added.
