NEW DELHI, March 7, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi today observed the historic March 7 in a befitting manner commemorating the landmark speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
 
On this day in 1971, Bangabandhu, the architect of independent Bangladesh, in his historic address at a mammoth public rally in the then Race Course (now Suhrawardy Udyan), asked the freedom-loving Bangalees for waging a decisive struggle against the then Pakistani occupation forces.
 
Marking the day, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Md. Mustafizur Rahman hoisted the national flag at the chancery premises and later placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, the greatest Bengali of all times.
 

A discussion was also held on the occasion following reading out messages from President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. High Commissioner Mustafizur Rahman and Minister (Press) of the mission Shaban Mahmood took part in the discussion.
 
Describing the historic March 7 speech of the Bangabandhu as the world's most famous poem and charter of freedom, the envoy said the March 7 speech of Bangabandhu is a great example in the world's history as how a single speech inspired the entire nation to fight for achieving independence.
 
"The historic March 7 speech of Father of the Nation will act as the source of inspiration among the freedom loving people across the world. The UNESCO's recognition to the speech is the recognition of the Father of the Nation's secular spirit of freedom struggle and democratic values," he added.
 
Later, a munajat was offered seeking divine blessings of Bangabandhu and all martyred freedom fighters of the 1971 Liberation War.
 
Similar programmes were also observed in Bangladesh deputy and assistant high commissions on Kolkata, Mumbai, Agartala and Guwahati in the country in a befitting manner commemorating the historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
