DHAKA, March 06, 2023 (BSS) - The explosion, occurred at a commercial building in the city's Science Lab on Sunday, was caused due to accumulated gas stored in the building.
"The bomb disposal unit said there were no signs of sabotage or explosives . . . We believe that this colossal explosion happened due to the gas that has been accumulated inside the building for a long," said Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, Director General (DG) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence replying to journalists after the opening ceremony of Pallabi Fire Station in Mirpur DOHS here this morning
Asked about shifting of chemical go-downs and factories of old Dhaka, the Fire Service DG said, "The government has taken initiatives to move chemical warehouses far away from residential areas. After the directives of the government, neither the fire service nor the city corporation is giving any NOC (or permission) for setting up chemical go-downs or factories in the old part of the capital city Dhaka."
Three people were killed and 15 injured in a fire caused by an explosion inside a commercial building near the city's Science Laboratory intersection on Sunday morning.
