6-day street theater festival begins in city

DHAKA, March 1, 2023 (BSS) - A six-day Bangladesh Street Theater Festival began today on the first day of month of independence on the premises of the Central Shaheed Minar here under the initiative of Bangladesh Patha Natak Parishad.

Noted director and actor Mamunur Rashid inaugurated the festival releasing balloons in the afternoon while Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus joined the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Patha Natak Parishad president Mizanur Rahman chaired the function while Sammilita Sangskritik Jote vice-president Jhuna Chowdhury, Bangladesh Group Theater Federation acting secretary general Chandan Reza, Patha Natak Parishad vice-presidents Dr Ratan Siddique and Jahangir Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

Patha Natak Parishad general secretary Ahmed Giyas delivered the welcome address.

Some 37 playwrights whose street dramas have been performed in different events of Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad were honoured on the occasion.
A total of 35 new dramas will be staged in the festival. The festival will end on March 6.

Marking the month of independence, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal arranged a discussion at Shaheed Colonel Taher auditorium at Bangabandhu Avenue this afternoon.

Jasad President Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, chaired the discussion while its General Secretary Shirin Akhter, MP, Vice-Presidents Fazlur Rahman Babul and valiant freedom fighter Shafi Uddin Mollah addressed it, among others.
