'Smart Campus Challenge' will be launched at universities: Palak

DHAKA, Feb 26, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said that 'Smart Campus Challenge' will be launched at the country's all universities to develop them as green, clean, safe and smart.

He said this while addressing a function on the occasion of launching Digital Nothi System (D-Nothi) for eight universities at the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) in the city's Agargaon area, said a press release.

At the function, Palak formally inaugurated the D-Nothi System in primarily nominated eight public universities.

The ICT state minister urged the teachers and students of the universities across the country to take preparation from now to build the universities as smart campuses with technology-based solutions.

As the country has moved to a technology-based economy from the labor-based one, Palak said, "Now we want to move towards knowledge based economy".

Noting that the e-Nothi was launched in 2016 with an aim of carrying out office activities electronically from any time and place using digital devices, he said more than 2 crore files were managed by over one lakh officials of 11,000 offices in the last seven years.

The use of e-Nothi has saved money and time, and ensured transparency and accountability with a quick service, Palak said, adding it also reduced the adverse impact on the environment as the use of paper has declined.

Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajib Wazed Joy has identified four areas - 'Smart Citizen', 'Smart Society', 'Smart Economy' and 'Smart Government'- to build a 'SMART Bangladesh' by 2041, he said,

"Partnership between the government, academia and industry is needed to build an innovative 'SMART Bangladesh' while the process of setting up University Incubation Center at universities across the country has already started in this regard," Palak added.
