
RANGPUR, Feb 16, 2023 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said children will get modern healthcare services from Rangpur Shishu Hospital (RSH).
"The 100-bed Rangpur Shishu Hospital has been built for ensuring better healthcare services for children of Rangpur division. It will formally start its operation soon," he said.
The minister said while talking to reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed RSH here as the chief guest.
He also inspected Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH), construction of the Cancer and Burn and Plastic Surgery Hospital and attended a view-exchange meeting with nurses, physics and officials of RpMCH as the chief guest in the afternoon.
Maleque said the 100-bed RSH is equipped with advanced machinery including central oxygen supply system.
"If needed, more machinery and manpower will be given to RSH to ensure better healthcare services for children," he said.
He said there will be no more syndicates in RpMCH and stern actions would be taken against those who create hurdles for common people in getting health services.
"RpMCH is the biggest hospital providing health services to people using modern equipment. Yet, why will people not get better health services? We do not want to keep those who create obstacles in providing better health services," he said.
The minister said, "I have talked to several patients at RpMCH, they are now getting good medical care and medicines. Although some patients complained that they are not getting drugs and medicines. We will look into the matter and take necessary actions.”
"RpMCH is a very old hospital that requires renovation. However, the environment here needs more improvement and made hygiene. We now hope that the medical care will be much better here in the future," he said.
The government has allocated a lot to the health sector by bringing new machineries and increasing manpower, he added.
Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, Rangpur Medical College Principal Professor Dr. Bimal Kumar Roy, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Chitralekha Nazneen, Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Shamim Ahmed and officials were present.
The Health Engineering Department has implemented construction of the three-story RSH building spending Taka 31.49 crore in the first phase of the six-story government hospital paving the way to provide modern health services to children of Rangpur division.
