DHAKA, Aug 12, 2021 (BSS) - Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzak
today said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had
spent most of his political life for the development of agriculture
and farmers.
Noting the importance of increasing production in agriculture, he
said, “I will discuss at a high level to take the agro-industry
forward by providing loans at 2 precent interest to the
agro-processing industry.”
He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at a virtual
seminar organized by The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce
and Industries (FBCCI) marking Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman's 46th Martyrdom anniversary and National Mourning
Day-2021,said a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam
said Bangabandhu laid the foundation for the development of today's
agriculture.
“After independence when the country's treasury was empty and
agricultural sector was in a fragile condition, at that time
Bangabandhu established various agricultural institutions out of his
immense love for the farmers,” he added.
FBCCI president Jasim Uddin said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ,the
worthy daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman, is making all out efforts for development of agricultural
sector to build 'Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by Bangabandhu.
Former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman presented the
keynote paper.
Besides, Executive Director of Policy Research Institute Dr. Ahsan
H. Mansoor, Founder Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd. and Channel i
Sykh Seraj, and Chairman of Pran Group Ahsan Khan Chowdhury
participated the seminar as panel discussants.
