DHAKA, Feb 8, 2023 (BSS) - President M Abdul Hamid today urged senior politicians to come forward to highlight the real history of the 1971 Liberation War so that the new generation can know the facts. 
 
"Let the new and future generation know the real history of War of Liberation . . . It's our scared duty to enrich them with the actual history," the President told the publication ceremony of his two books at Bangabhaban' Durbar this evening.
 
Daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was the chief guest at the event where the publication festival of two books - President M Abdul Hamid's autobiography based "Amar Jibanniti, Amar Rajniti (My Principle of Life, My Politics)" and a different addresses given at various events titled "Swapna Joyer Ichchha (To Achieve the Dream)". 
 
President Hamid also urged the members of parliament (MPs) and politicians to continue country's development works at their respective areas with more sincerity and compassion for the welfare of people. 
 
Highlighting the context of writing the autobiographical book, coincided with presenting country's political history to the next generation, President Hamid said, "Bangabandhu is his political leader (guru) . . . I learnt politics from him." 
 
He suggested all those who came very close to Bangabandhu to write down autobiography which would help spread the ideals of Bangabandhu from generation to generation. 
 
The President said Bangabandhu's ideals and inspiration gave him strength to everything, including the Language Movement in 1952, the Six-point Movement in 1966, the Mass-Upsurge in 1969 and subsequently the Great Liberation War in 1971. 
 
President's wife Rashida Khanam, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Awami League Advisory Council member Tofail Ahmed, MP, and Director General of Bangla Academy Muhammad Nurul Huda also spoke.

Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Prof Nehal Ahmed conducted the programme.

President's wife Rashida Khanum thanked all those involved in the publication of the book "Amar Jibanniti Amar Politika". 
 
"The book is a witness to many events. Especially the memories of the 1971 Liberation War, the days from my college life still haunt me," she told in an emotion chocked voice and thanked President Abdul Hamid for supporting this function on the occasion.
 
Rashida Khanam said Abdul Hamid was as a politician, lawyer, Member of Parliament (MP), Deputy Speaker, Speaker, Deputy Leader of Opposition and lastly the President of the republic but from today he is indeed a writer as well. "It's more like 'Better late than never," she added. 
 
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury congratulated the President for writing the books as part of promoting the new generation to enrich them with the knowledge of country's historical incidents. 
 
Noting that President Hamid is widely known as the "Vatir Shardul" , the Speaker said in his long political life he never stay far from common people rather he always give priority to his haor region. 
 
Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed said writer President Abdul Hamid and he were very good friends to each other from their student life.
 
"Bangabandhu used to love us. As the youngest MP, Abdul Hamid was testified to his works ethically at various times," Tofail added. 
 
Referring to his books, this political veteran said these types of books would inspire the new generation to learn many unknown things.
 
Later, a cultural soiree was held followed by a dinner in honour of the Prime Minister, Speaker, Chief Justice, cabinet members and members of parliament (MPs).
