DHAKA, Feb 7, 2023 (BSS) - A man was crushed to death by getting stuck between a speedy truck and a bus while crossing the road in city's Jatrabari area last night.

The deceased was identified as Md Rakib Bepari, 30, son of Mokhles Bepari of Naria police station of Shariatpur district.

Police Inspector Bachchu Miah, the camp-in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), confirmed.

Quoting the deceased's friend Md Wahidul Islam, police said the victim was sandwiched between a truck and a bus while he was crossing the road in the area around 10.30 pm.

Rakib was critically injured on the spot and later, whisked off to the local hospital.

As his health deteriorated, he was referred to DMCH for better treatment where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 11:45 pm.

The body has been kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, said Bacchu Miah.

The procedure of taking legal action in this regard is underway, said Jatrabari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostafizur Rahman.
