DHAKA, Feb 6, 2023 (BSS) - The parliament today unanimously adopted a condolence motion expressing deep shock at the death of Awami League MP from Chattogram-8 constituency and valiant freedom fighter Moslem Uddin Ahmed.
The sitting of the parliament session has also been adjourned till 3.00 pm on Tuesday at the demise of MP Moslem Uddin Ahmed.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury made the announcement today. An obituary motion was adopted and then it was accepted unanimously by the voice votes in the House.
Earlier, a discussion was held in the house on the political carrier of the deceased ruling party lawmaker.
Participating in the discussion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “Moslem Uddin Ahmed was an active leader of the ruling Awami League. “We had lost a good number of grass-root leaders like Moslem Uddin as he was very much sincere and active in various movement of the party”, said the minister also a lawmaker of Chattogram-6.
Whip Shamsul Huq of Chattogram-12 said “Moslem Uddin Ahmed was a dedicated leader of the ruling Awami League. He participated in various movements in the country and was a dedicated follower of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
Recalling the contribution of the deceased lawmaker, Jatiya Party lawmaker Anisul Islam Mahmud of Chattogram-5 said “Moselm Uddin Ahmed was a well-behaved politician and he was a dedicated soldier of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
The other lawmakers including the leader of parliament Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Eng. Mosharraf Hossain of Chattogram-1, Shajahan Khan of Madaripur-2, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon of Jaipurhat-2, Jatiya Party lawmakers Kazi Firoz Rashid of Dhaka-6, Moshiur Rahman Ranga of Rangpur-1
A valiant freedom fighter Moslem Uddin Ahmed died at a hospital in the capital in the early hours of today. He was 75.
The lawmaker from Chittagong-8 constituency breathed his last at Evercare Hospital around 12:30 am on Monday.
Moslem Uddin also the president of Chittagong South Awami League, left behind wife, four daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the ruling party lawmaker.
After the discussion, the lawmakers of the Jatiya Sangsad observed one minute silent at the death Moslem Uddin Ahmed and then a munajat was held led by Bangladesh Tarikat Federation lawmaker Syed Nazibul Bashar Maizvandary of Chattogram-2.
