Bangladesh now at doorstep of 4thIR: MPs

 

DHAKA, Feb 2, 2023 (BSS) - Lawmakers today said Bangladesh is now at the doorstep of fourth industrial revolution due to revolutionary changes took place in all spheres of life over the last fourteen years.

Bangladesh is now at the doorstep of fourth industrial revolution which was possible due to revolutionary changes brought over the last fourteen years in infrastructure and social security by the present government, they said while taking part in the discussion on thanksgiving motion of the President's speech at the Jatiya Sangsad here with Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku in the chair. 

Taking part in the discussion, the lawmakers highlighted different development activities in various sectors including communication, socio-economic, education, youth and sports, information and communication technology (ICT) under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The President in his 168-page speech on January 5 last, on the first day of the maiden session in 2023 of the 11th parliament, focused on the country's massive successes in different sectors. 

"The country is now on the verge of fourth industrial revolution which was possible due dramatic changes in all sphere including infrastructure and social security under the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina", said M. Abdul Latif of Chattogram-11.

Revolutionary changes have been brought in power, energy, food production, education, health along with road, railway, river and air trafficking in the last fourteen years, he told the parliament.

Bangladesh will be meddle income country by 2030 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Md. Mahbubul Alam Hanif of Kushtia-3. 

He urged the government to bring back exile BNP leader Tareque Rahman from London for executing the verdict against him as the BNP-Jammat had killed 26,000 ruling party activists between 2001 and 2006. 

Coming down heavily on the role of BNP government, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said the overall food production during the BNP period between 2001-2006 was 2.64 crore tonnes while it is now stands at nearly 4.60 crore tonnes which is almost double. The food stock during that time was only 6.84 lakh tonne while it is now reaches to nearly 20 lakh tonnes, he said.

Even BNP is still carrying out propaganda that the country will fall in famine in 2023,said the food minister who also a lawmaker of Naogaon-1, adding that the country will not face such situation till Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remain in power.

Participating in the discussion, Mohammad Habib Hasan of Dhaka-18, said the country led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will progress ahead to fulfil the dream of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman facing all conspiracies.

Lawmakers including Nur Mohammad of Kishoreganj-2, Shri Biren Sikder of Magura-2, Shabnam Jahan of women seat-3, Alhaj Md. Dabirul Islam of Thakurgaon-2, Mouazzam Hossain Ratan of Sunamganj-1, Md. Aslam Hossain Sowdagar of Kurigram-1 and Khan Ahmed Shuvo of Tangail-7, also participated in the discussion. 
    
Earlier, the chief whip Nur-E Alam Chowdhury came up with a proposal for holding discussion on thanksgiving motion of the President's speech in the House and then it was seconded by treasury bench lawmaker Md. Shahiduzzaman Sarker.

The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech highlighting the success stories of the government and guiding the nation towards peace, progress and prosperity.

Earlier, they paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.
