Indira for raising awareness to prevent violence on women, children

 

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira today called upon the field administration officials to work for raising consciousness among people in preventing violence on women and children, dowry and child marriage.

She was addressing as the chief guest the 'Joyeeta' (victorious women) award giving ceremony for Chattogram and Sylhet divisions joining it virtually from the conference room of Department of Women Affairs at Eskaton in the city. 

Five women from Chattogram division and five from Sylhet division won the award.
 
 The state minister said as per the announcement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina the country will turn into a Smart Bangladesh by 2041 with the proper implementation of government works by field administration.

Indira said the participation of women in all sectors of development including public and private services and self-employment has increased massively due to adoption and implementation of women friendly development policy by the government in the last one era.

She said the premier introduced Joyeeta programme in 2011 for accelerating the economic and social development of women.

Joyeeta programme has spread at divisional, district and upazila levels and women friendly marketing network has been built, she said.

Centering the Joyeeta programme, self-confidence, eagerness and enthusiasm have been created among women entrepreneurs at grassroots, she mentioned.

She said the government has been making its all-out strides to indentify Joyeetas for settling them in society with a view to building discrimination free and equity-based society.

Women and Children Affairs Secretary Md Hasanuzzaman Kallol, Women Affairs Department Director General Farida Pervin and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chattogram Range Md Anwar Hossain, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakruzzaman were present as the special guests in ceremony of Joyeeta award giving ceremony of Chattogram division.

Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Aminur Rahman chaired it.

In Chattogram division, Nasrin Soltana Jerin of Satkania upazila under Chattogram district receiving the award in the category of economically successful woman; Saptarshi Chakma, Rangamati district in education and service category, Indira Debi Chakma, Khagrachhari district in successful mother category, Laila Akhter, Feni district for beginning a new life after overcoming the tragedy of torture and Manowara Parvin of Cox's Bazar district for contributions to social development.

Divisional Commissioner Dr Muhammad Mosharraf Hossain chaired the Sylhet division's Joyeeta award giving ceremony.

Former lawmaker and Awami League Presidium Member Syeda Jebunnesa Haque, Sylhet Range DIG Mofiz Uddin Ahmed and Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nisharul Arif were present on the occasion.

Syeda Farhana Ima of Sunamganj district received Joyeeta award for in the category of economically successful woman, Margret Sumer of Baralekha upazila under Moulvibazar District in education and service category, Saleha Begum of Bishwanath upazila under Sylhet district in successful mother category, Sahena Akhter of Moulvibazar for beginning a new life overcoming the tragedy of torture and Khushi Chowdhury for contributions to social development.
