Reunion of Notre Dame College Alumni Association Jan 28

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2023 (BSS) - The reunion of Notre Dame College Alumni Association (NDCAA) will be held on January 28 (Saturday), marking the 74th founding anniversary of the college.

Alumni members, distinguished guests and well-wishers from home and abroad will gather on the day on the Notre Dame College premises in the city's Arambagh to celebrate its 74th founding anniversary, Shujan Mahmud, member of media sub-committee of the NDCAA told BSS here today.

He said former students, especially 1965 batch of the college will enjoy different programmes including concert, dancing, reciting of poems, and other cultural activities of the day.

Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will present as the chief guest, while Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafesh Osman and Textile and Jute Minister Bir Muktijodha Golam Dastagir Gazi will present as special guests.

Principal of Notre Dame College Dr Father Hemanto Pius Rozario, also President of the Alumni, will preside over the reunion and founding anniversary programme, Shujan said.

He said the spot registration for the alumni will start 8:30am on January 28 and then they will sit.

The college was founded in Lakshmibazar, Dhaka, in November 1949, by Holy Cross priests at the invitation of Archbishop Lawrence Leo Graner, who at the time was Bishop of what was then the Diocese of Dhaka.

Originally called St. Gregory College as an extension of St. Gregory School, it was re-located to its current location in Motijheel in 1954 and renamed Notre Dame College. 

Since then, Notre Dame College has gone on to become the premier college and institution of higher secondary education in the country.
