DHAKA, Aug 10, 2021 (BSS) - A Dhaka court has granted a two-day
remand to film actress Porimoni in a case filed under the Narcotics
Act.
The court also granted a six-day remand to producer Nazrul Islam Raj
in a case filed under the Narcotics Act and Pornography Act.
After a four-day remand, they were produced before the Dhaka
Metropolitan Magistrate's Court today. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate
Debabrata Biswas granted the remands after a hearing today.
On Thursday (August 5), as Porimoni and Raj were produced before the
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court, Banani Police Station Inspector
(Investigation) Sheikh Sohel Rana, the investigating officer of the
case, requested to remand them for seven days for proper investigation
of the case.
Following the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid
granted four days remand to each.
Earlier on the afternoon of August 4, members of the RAB's
intelligence team led by an executive magistrate of the RAB's mobile
court raided Porimoni's Banani home.
After a four-hour operation, she was arrested at around 8 pm and
taken to the RAB headquarters. The next day, RAB filed a case against
her under the Narcotics Act.
According to the information obtained on the basis of preliminary
interrogation, RAB started raiding the house of producer and actor
Nazrul Islam Raj around 8:30pm on August 4.
After a two-hour operation, RAB members arrested Raj from his home
in Banani and took him away at around 10:15 pm.
RAB said that drugs and pornography making equipment were recovered
from Raj's house.
RAB filed two separate cases against Raj under the Narcotics Act and
Pornography Act.
