DHAKA, Aug 9, 2021 (BSS) – A court here today sent to jail Monir Khan alias Dorji Monir, president of so-called ‘Bangladesh Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Parishad’, in a fraud and extortion case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiduzzaman Sharif passed the order as police produced the accused before the court after the end of his remand in the case lodged with Kamrangirchar Police Station.

A court on August 4 placed him on four-day remand in the case. A victim named Ismail Hossain filed the case on August 3.

Monir, who was actually a tailor (dorji) working at the capital's Ramna Bhaban, suddenly started addressing himself as a leader of Awami League. He even formed an organization named after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and used to extort money from different people.

He made many photographs with different dignitaries of the country through Photoshop and put his own picture in those frames. He received money from many people, promising them many undue benefits.
