DHAKA, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said that opportunity to review the question papers has been ensured following applications of aggrieved students after the publication of this year's SSC and equivalent examinations results.

Noting that this system has been ensured by bringing legal changes, he said if any examinee is deprived of fair marks or there is any error in giving marks, his or her papers will be properly evaluated through the review committee.

The education minister made the remarks while responding to a question following official publication of this year's SSC and equivalent examination results at the ministry’s conference room in Bangladesh Secretariat here.

Replying to another query regarding the re-verification of results, he said, "In the past, only the formality of adding and subtracting marks was observed in the re-verification of results. But this time, through legal changes, we have ensured the opportunity to re-verify each student's papers properly.”

He said if a teacher has not given appropriate marks during the evaluation or there has been an inadvertent error, then that answer paper will be thoroughly reviewed again before an experienced review committee.
 
The examinee will be informed of his/her due marks, he added.

About the educational institutions having zero pass in the SSC and equivalent examinations this year, Milon said, "During the period from 2001 to 2006, when we were in charge of the Ministry of Education and eliminated copy in the examination centres through strict measures. The number of institutions that passed zero had increased by about four to five times in the initial stage.”

“But later, through continuous and strict supervision, we successfully reduced that number and were able to increase the overall pass rate from 28 percent to 77 percent. We have that experience,” he said.

The minister said the results were just published today and his ministry will start taking action soon regarding the institutions that passed with zero.

In response to another query regarding the disparity in obtaining GPA-5 between Dhaka board and other education boards, he said such differences in results are created due to the socioeconomic context and infrastructural differences of local educational institutions, which exist in any country in the world.
 
However, Milon said, the government is strengthening special supervision at the local level to eliminate this disparity by increasing the overall quality of education.

Earlier at 10 am, the education minister officially unveiled the results of this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations.

Prime Minister's Education Adviser Dr Mahdi Amin, Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Md Abdul Khaleque, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, and the chairmen of different education boards were present at the press conference.
