DHAKA, July 19, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Women's Junior Hockey Team achieved a historic feat by becoming unbeaten champions in the Women's Junior AHF Cup 2026 held in Muscat, Oman.
Bangladesh clinched the title with a 2-0 victory over Kazakhstan in the final, displaying remarkable skill, discipline, confidence and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
The achievement reflects the country's continued progress in sports development and is expected to further boost the growth of women's hockey in Bangladesh while inspiring future generations of athletes to pursue greater success on the international stage, said an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release issued here this afternoon.
The team's unbeaten run to the title has added a new chapter to Bangladesh's sporting achievements and brought pride to the nation, the release said.
Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force and President of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan was present in Oman and congratulated the players on their outstanding success.
According to the release, the Air Chief's presence served as a source of inspiration for the players and reflected the armed forces' support for the development of hockey in the country.
Bangladeshi expatriates living in Oman also extended enthusiastic support to the team throughout the tournament by attending matches and cheering from the galleries.
The Bangladesh Hockey Federation President expressed gratitude to the expatriate community for their encouragement and patriotism.
During his official visit to Oman, the Air Chief held courtesy meetings with the President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), the President of Hockey Oman, senior officials of the Asian Hockey Federation and other distinguished figures of the international hockey community, the ISPR
mentioned.
The meetings focused on issues of mutual interest, particularly the development of hockey in Bangladesh, international cooperation and future opportunities for the sport.
