PM leaves Dhaka for Moulvibazar

DHAKA, June 17, 2026 (BSS) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left here for Moulvibazar this morning on a daylong visit.
 
The Prime Minister departed for Sylhet Osmani International Airport from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here at 9:38 am by air, said Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
 
Earlier, the premier arrived at the airport from his Gulshan residence around 9:30 am.
 
“During the visit, the Prime Minister will attend Family Card distribution programmes and a public gathering in Moulvibazar. He will return to Dhaka at night after completing the day’s activities,” Ruman said.
 
According to the tour schedule, the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Sylhet Osmani International Airport in Sylhet at 10:15 am. From there he will proceed to Sreemangal in Moulvibazar district.
 
After reaching Sreemangal, he will join a Family Card distribution programme at the historic Victoria High School ground there at 1:00 pm. At the event, Family Cards will be distributed among 155 families from Ward No 1 of Mirzapur Union in Sreemangal Upazila.
 
Tarique Rahman will join the second family card distribution programme at Moulvibazar Government High School grounds at 2:30pm. There, cards will be distributed among 152 families of Ward No 7 of Tengra Union in Rajnagar Upazila.
Later in the afternoon, he will leave Moulvibazar Government High School ground for DuSai Resort. After resting there for some time, the Prime Minister will join a political meeting with party leaders there.
 
After the meeting, the premier will return to Sylhet and depart for Dhaka from Sylhet Osmani International Airport in the evening.
 
After spending more than a decade and a half in London, Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh on December 25 last year. He previously visited Moulvibazar during the 12 February election campaign.
 
This is his first visit to the district as Prime Minister after the BNP formed the government with a landslide victory in the February 12 general election.
