DHAKA, May 20, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today congratulated the Bangladesh Cricket Team for winning a Test series against Pakistan on home soil for the first time.

Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony shared the message to BSS.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh’s success in international cricket would continue and this achievement would further inspire the younger generation toward sports.

He expressed the hope that the Bangladesh cricket team would continue to progress on the world stage by maintaining team spirit, discipline, and self-confidence. 

The Prime Minister extended heartfelt greetings and thanks to the players, coaching staffs and all concerned.

The Bangladesh team today defeated Pakistan by 78 runs in the second Test in Sylhet. Earlier, Bangladesh had won the first Test in Mirpur in the capital by 104 runs.

With the 2–0 series victory, the Bangladesh cricket team also whitewashed Pakistan.

Following this win, Bangladesh climbed to 5th place in the World Test Championship point-table by overtaking India.

Bangladesh now holds 58.33 percent of the points while India is in sixth place with 48.15 percent.
